What are ICON™  laser treatments?

The ICON™ laser offers nonsurgical treatment options for correcting or minimizing scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, pigmentation changes and/or permanent hair reduction. Icon™ laser treatments stimulate the growth of new collagen to correct unwanted skin flaws, improving the skin’s tone and appearance. For permanent hair reduction, the laser technology targets and destroys hair follicles on the face or body to prevent regrowth, without causing damage to the surrounding skin. Treatment plans can be customized to fit everyone’s lifestyle.

What are the benefits of a laser treatment?

ICON™  laser treatments offer a non-invasive way to correct or reduce cosmetic flaws.  Selecting a nonsurgical treatment option for improving the skin’s imperfections and unwanted hair with little discomfort, allows patients to return to their day-to-day routines and activities with no downtime. For optimal results, a series of treatment sessions are recommended and will be customized during your free consultation.  

Are ICON™  laser treatments safe?

ICON™ laser treatments are a safe method of correcting cosmetic flaws and removing unwanted hair. Those who undergo ICON™ laser treatments do not have to worry about suffering the same complications or serious side effects associated invasive treatments. Patients usually have some slight swelling and redness in the areas treated. This is an indication that ICON™ laser treatments are successfully working. Patients should let Dr. Hutson and her staff know about any medical conditions they have,  and any prescription and nonprescription medications they are taking prior to ICON™ treatments.

What is a ThreeforMe treatment?

ICON™ ThreeForMe treatments combine IPL/photorejuvenation and skin resurfacing to treat sun damage, facial veins and unwanted wrinkles. The procedure usually lasts 45-minutes, and afterward, you should begin to notice a healthy glow. With little to no downtime, patients are able to return to their normal routine immediately. ThreeForMe treatments are performed in two stages or “passes.” The first pass aims to treat discolorations like brown spots and age spots, along with unsightly blood vessels, rosacea and facial veins.  The second pass works to renew the skin by stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin. This phase can improve the overall texture of the skin. For optimal results, we recommend that you undergo three treatments spaced one month apart. 

Is Laser Hair Removal right for me?

If you are tired of constantly waxing and shaving, ICON™ is also an effective solution for hair removal. This laser is safe for all skin types, making it the perfect treatment for unwanted pigmented (black or brown) hair from the face to large areas of the body, including the back, legs, arms and chest.  Compared with other laser devices on the market, ICON™ laser hair removal sessions are much faster and less painful.

What should patients expect during laser treatment?

For comfort, all ICON™ laser treatment patients are offered topical numbing crème at no additional cost. There is no serious discomfort associated with the use of this laser technology. Approved laser protective eyewear is worn for all treatments. Patients receive post-care instructions and products to optimize treatment results. The number of laser treatments needed depends on the patient’s personal aesthetic goals, however, most patients complete 3-5 treatments for optimal results.

What is photorejuvenation or IPL?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a technology used in photorejuvenation of the skin to eliminate pigmentation, sun damage, and small veins. The  ICON™ laser offers high peak power, state-of-the-art cooling, and the proprietary Skintel® Melanin Reader, resulting in fast individualized treatments, excellent results and no overtreatment.  With IPL, a hand-held, computer-controlled flashgun delivers an intense, visible, broad-spectrum pulse of light to specific structures and chromophores (melanin or oxyhemoglobin). The damaged pigmented lesions undergo a mild desquamation and slough off, removing the appearance of the lesion from the skin.  For treatment of broken blood vessels, facial veins and rosacea, intense pulsed light is absorbed by the blood, destroying the vessel, and over time, the vessel disappears restoring the skin’s natural appearance.

What is skin resurfacing?

The ICON™ laser can treat texture irregularities like fine lines and wrinkles and improve the overall health of your skin.  The ICON™ 1540 laser delivers non-ablative, fractional high-precision microbeams to the skin, creating deep, narrow columns of skin coagulation surrounded by healthier, untreated skin.   Over time, your skin will work to repair itself, producing new collagen resulting in healthier, younger-looking skin.
