What is Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT)?

OMT is a hands-on therapy used to diagnose and treat bodily dysfunction. Using a variety of techniques OMT can help the body realign release tension and restore function. OMT can be used to address acute and chronic injuries, improve pain, restore mobility, and promote healing of both organs and the musculoskeletal system. This form of treatment encourages your body to fins its natural stare of ease, maintain balance and heal itself.

What are the benefits of OMT?

As one of many tools that DOs can utilize to care for patients, OMM:

  • Can be used to treat a wide variety of common ailments, including headaches, arthritis, stress injuries, sports injuries, and pain in areas such as the lower back, neck, shoulders, and knees

  • Provides a non-invasive and medication-free treatment option for patients

  • Can be performed in many different environments

  • Training enhances a physician’s overall diagnostic skills

  • Can be administered safely in combination with other medical treatments to improve outcomes

What is a D.O.?

A Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) is a physician who has undergone the same training as an M.D. and additional training of the musculoskeletal system.
